How we keep NeighbourHub a good place to be neighbours. Last updated: 1 August 2026.
NeighbourHub works because it's built on trust between real, verified neighbours. These simple rules keep it that way. They apply to everything you share here - the feed, your profile, listings, reviews, events, carpool, messages and vendor pages - and they form part of our Terms of Use, which is the full legal version.
Be real. You need to be 18 or over to have an account. Use your real name and be a genuine resident of the community you join. A resident badge means an admin has checked proof of residence; a vendor badge means an admin has reviewed the details a business gave us. Badges aren't a guarantee of anyone's licence, qualifications or workmanship - always do your own checks before you hire or buy (see Terms of Use, section 5).
Be kind and respectful. Treat neighbours the way you'd want to be treated in person. It's fine to disagree - it's not fine to be nasty about it.
Keep it local and useful. Share things that help the community: skills, recommendations, items for sale, events, and genuine questions.
Respect privacy. Don't share anyone's home address, unit number, phone or personal details without their consent. First contact happens through in-app messaging, so no resident's number is exposed unless you add it yourself.
Think before you post photos of people. Don't post photos, videos, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, screenshots, number plates, or images of someone's home that identify another person without their consent - under UAE law that can carry personal criminal liability. Don't post images of any child other than your own, or of your own child in a way that shows where they live or study. And never publicly accuse or name-and-shame a neighbour - over parking, damage, theft, anything. Report crimes to the police, not to the feed.
Harass, threaten, bully or discriminate. No hate speech, no targeting people for who they are.
Bring politics or religion into it. No political campaigning, and nothing that could offend any religion or community. This is a neighbourhood noticeboard, not a debating stage.
Scam or deceive. No fraud, phishing, fake listings, or pyramid / MLM schemes.
Raise money or collect donations. Fundraising - even for a genuinely good cause - is regulated in the UAE and needs a permit from the relevant authority. Please don't organise collections, charity drives, or crowdfunding through NeighbourHub.
Spam. Don't flood the feed with repeated promotions. Businesses have their own home - list as a vendor or post an offer in Eat & Shop instead.
Run an unlicensed business. Paid professional services and shops need the proper UAE licence. Free, neighbourly help is always welcome; to sell home-prepared food you must hold a valid Dubai Municipality home food permit - we don't verify permits, and holding one is your responsibility.
Advertise property. No listings for the sale, lease, or sub-lease of property - by owners, tenants, or brokers. Advertising property in Dubai is a regulated activity, and NeighbourHub is not a property portal.
Impersonate or misrepresent. Don't pretend to be someone else, to live somewhere you don't, or to speak for the developer or community management - NeighbourHub is independent, and nothing here is official.
Sell or post anything illegal, restricted or unsafe. That includes alcohol, tobacco and vaping products, medicines, supplements and injectables, weapons, counterfeit goods, gambling, and anything adult or graphic. Pets may only be rehomed free of charge - no selling animals.
Review only what you've experienced. Reviews must be your honest, genuine experience with a business you've actually dealt with. Don't review your own business or a competitor's, and never offer or accept money, discounts or gifts for writing, changing or removing a review.
Businesses: reply, don't retaliate. We don't remove a review just because a business disagrees with it - you can post one public reply instead. We do remove reviews that are fake, incentivised, abusive or off-topic. Pressuring or threatening a reviewer can get a business removed from the Platform.
Organisers run events, not NeighbourHub. The organiser is responsible for their event - venue, safety, permissions, and any fee they choose to charge (collected by them, never by us). Go with the same common sense you'd use for any gathering of people you've just met.
Kids stay your responsibility. Children attend events under their own parent or guardian's supervision, always. We don't vet, screen or background-check organisers, tutors, coaches or babysitters - check credentials yourself before you book anyone for your child.
It's neighbours sharing a ride, nothing more. Carpool is private, non-commercial cost-sharing between residents. NeighbourHub is not a taxi or ride-hailing service and takes no part in any journey - who you ride with is your choice and your responsibility.
Drivers: be road-legal. A valid UAE licence, registration and insurance are on you, and paid passenger transport requires an RTA licence - so keep it to sharing costs, not running a service.
When something crosses the line, our community admin can remove it. Depending on how serious or repeated it is, we may also warn you, temporarily suspend your ability to post, revoke a verification badge, or remove the account entirely. Where we can, we'll let you know when we remove something of yours. Serious or unlawful activity may be reported to the authorities. This mirrors our Terms of Use.
If you think we got a moderation decision wrong, email support@carnelian.tech and a human will look at it again.
Every post, comment, listing, event, review and vendor page has a Report option for verified residents - tap it and it goes straight to our community admin. You can also email us at support@carnelian.tech with a link. We don't tell the person you reported who raised it - we'd only ever share that if we were legally required to.
Report honestly. The report button is for genuine problems. Repeatedly reporting someone in bad faith, or to damage a competitor, is itself a breach of these guidelines.
A note on good faith: these guidelines are about keeping the community safe and welcoming, not policing every word. Please report genuine problems, not ordinary disagreements.
In an emergency, contact the UAE emergency services - 999 police, 998 ambulance, 997 fire. NeighbourHub is not an emergency or security service.
